General Ashram Information, Guidelines and Rules

All guests should report to reception upon arrival at the ashram. Guests should check out at reception before departure. If you are leaving outside office hours (08.00 to 20.00 hrs), please check-out the day before. We require that you return all bedding before departure.

Meals

We provide two meals per day which will be simple Indian foodvegetarian meals. Meals include rice, rotti, idili, or dosa with two courses of vegetables, papad, salads and yogurt. Of course, there will be a different meal each day! If you have any specific dietary needs please inform us when you register. You are welcome to bring your own snacks.

Drinking Water

Filtered water or boiled Ayurvedic herbal water is freely available

Accommodation

Space is limited to 12 people based on double occupancy with en suite washroom. Tent space can be arranged which may be nicer for your privacy. We encourage you to bring a tent.

 

What to bring

Comfortable clothes, Mosquito net or protection, sandals, toiletries, personal items, meditation shawl for cool evenings, 2 passport size photos, copy of your passport and visa, yoga asana mat or pad, towels and a torch.

Tent space space is available. Bring your own tent and mattress.

Vaccinations

Check with your local health authority for advice regarding vaccinations for visiting India.

 

Visa requirements

A visa is required from most countries to visit India. You are advised to apply for an ordinary tourist visa stating your purpose of visit as vacation. Foreign Nationals are required to bring their original passport with them.

Karma Yoga

Karma Yoga, a service done without selfish expectations, is an essential part of Yoga practice. Guests are expected to participate in the daily karma yoga tasks.

 

To maintain the spiritual atmosphere we ask all ashram guests to comply with the ashram rules. The ashram reserves the right of admission and students may be asked to leave if their behavior goes against the ashrams rules and teachings.


Kindly note-

The spoken and teaching language of the ashram is English.
The daily schedule times and activities may vary according to the course. The Ashram welcomes seekers of spirituality, peace and happiness from all over the world irrespective of caste, creed, sex, religion or nationality.

 

Our daily schedule and programs are based on H.H. Swami Sivananda’s teachings and guidance of yoga and Vedanta. All guests are required to follow the entire ashram daily schedule. In the event that you need to be absent from any event or to leave the ashram premises, permission should be obtained from Nitya.

 

All guests are accepted onto the teachers training, intensive and the Advanced courses only if they stay for the entire  duration of the course. No any other guests are allowed these course durations. 

 

Intoxicants & Prohibited items

Alcohol, drugs, meat and fish are not allowed. Pets are not allowed. Photography, video, and audio recording is only permitted during classes and ceremonies with the permission of the Nitya.

Dress Code

Guests behavior and dress code should be respectful of Indian culture and enhance the spiritual atmosphere of the ashram and the village. Nudity is forbidden. Men and women should cover the shoulders, midriff and legs. Tight fitting, transparent and revealing clothing are not permitted in the ashram. To respect the local culture and the monastic tradition, kindly restrain expressions of affection such as hugging or kissing in public.

Personal Belongings

The ashram cannot accept responsibility for guest’s personal belongings. A safety deposit facility is available.

Shoes/Feet

Shoes, and to a lesser degree, feet, have unclean associations. Shoes are not allowed in any of the ashram buildings, especially in places of worship and dining. Shoes should be left out side.

Silence (Mouna)

Guests are requested to observe silence between 9.30 PM and 7.00am daily. Lights out after 9.30pm daily.

Payments and Donations

Daily donation rates include accommodation, all classes and two meals per day. Dates and donations are subject to change without notice. For all programs guests are subject to the suggested donation in effect at the time of final payment.

Refunds

Refunds will not be given under any circumstances after three days of the course started. If any questions or doubts about course and payment have to be settled before the course starts.

 

Internet and email

A limited internet facility is available. During busy times we ask guests to keep their email and telephone calls to a minimum allowing other guests the use of these facilities.

Laundry Service

laundry service is not available. Every one wash their cloths with hand
